Art-Making is one of the most formidable super powers that each of us have, whether we deem ourselves Artists or not. Creating Art gives shape and form to words and emotions we struggle to share and express. Art-Making is therapeutic.
How? The process of creating Art soothes the mind, lowers the heart rate, and promotes a calm emotional state, regardless of how "good" the Art turns out - Why? Because the focus is on the process more than the final result.
In this 8 week course, we approach Art as the teacher, learning different techniques such as Automatism, Charcoal drawing, and more to build our self-esteem, develop character, and learn a powerful way to create the best versions of ourselves using our mind's eye with a multitude of surfaces (canvas, paper, etc).
At the end of our time together, we will have a Group Art Exhibition where students can sell their artwork if they desire.
